Beatrix Potter's Scotland and La Trousse de Jeanne

One of the presents I got for my birthday was a beautiful book about Beatrix Potter.This author and illustrator ,known for her famous Peter Rabbit tales, spent a lot of her summer holidays in Perthshire in Scotland.For eleven years her parents rented Dalguise House near Dunkeld.According to the book, it has been Scotland where she developed her passion for nature history and it must have been there ,she found her inspiration for writing and drawing her little books.

Not only was Beatrix Potter a talented author and illustrator, she was also a very gifted stitcher.In later years, when she moved to the Lake District to live, she embroidered her own bedhangings and curtains.And she stitched her very famous Quaker Sampler.With all these wonderful Scottish information I decided to stitch the Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler myself.Bought the fabric and threads last week, and ordered the chart at Jacqueline's Needleprint.The only reason I haven't started yet is La Trousse de Jeanne.I love working on it and simply can't stop .......

Voor mijn verjaardag kreeg ik een mooi boek over Beatrix Potter.Deze schrijfster en tekenares van o.a. Peter Rabbit heeft in haar jeugd vele vakanties doorgebracht in Perthshire in Schotland. Elf jaar lang huurden haar ouders Dalguise House bij Dunkeld.Het is daar waar ze, volgens het boek, de passie voor de natuur ontwikkelde en waar ze haar inspiratie opdeed voor het schrijven en tekenen van de kleine boekjes.

Beatrix Potter was niet alleen schrijfster en tekenares, ze was ook een zeer getalenteerd borduurster.Toen ze op volwassen leeftijd haar huis in het Lake District ging bewonen, borduurde ze haar gordijnen en beddegoed zelf.

En ze borduurde natuurlijk ook haar beroemde Quaker Merklap.Deze mooie Schotse gegevens waren voor mij aanleiding om deze merklap zelf te willen gaan borduren.

Verleden week de stof en het garen gekocht en het patroon bij Jaqueline's Needleprint besteld en nu nog starten.Het enige wat me nu nog tegen houdt is La Trousse de Jeanne.Deze is zo leuk om aan te werken dat ik bijna niet kan stoppen.....
