A day in Roermond,a beautiful book and another start..

 Last Saturday René, a good friend since primary school, and I had a lovely day out in Roermond.That's an old city in the southern part of the Netherlands.The weather was good, the shops were great and the markets were nice..We also visited Sabine in her craftshop, where I bought some new fabric and threads.In my cupboard I had found some charts I'd love to make but... guess what!... I didn't have the right colours...sounds familiar doesn't it...

One of things I want to stitch , and I have started now is La Trousse de Jeanne by A Mon Ami Pierre.The colours they use are kind of reddish so I changed them in, what else,  pink. It's the first time I tried to do the colours myself so I'm very curious how it will work out.

By now I can hear you thinking, what about mr S the Scotsman. Well ladies I know, but I'm simply not in th mood...the colours are rather dark and it just doesn't feel good....He's in the WIP box ...I know I'll finish him someday.

Today mr Postman brought me a present from France.It's a book written by Isabelle Mazabraud from Reflets de Soie, it's about som English Samplers and it's got the charts included.Wonderful book with a personal note in it written by Isabelle herself...

Afgelopen zaterdag was ik met René, een oude schoolvriend, een dagje naar Roermond.Het weer was geweldig,de winkels super en er waren een paar leuke marktjes.Veel tweedehandsboeken gekocht..Verder moesten we natuurlijk even langs bij Sabine om wat nieuwe stof en borduurgarens te kopen.Ik heb in mijn borduurkast een paar patronen terug  gevonden die ik al een tijd wilde maken, waaronder La Trousse de Jeanne van A Mon Ami Pierre.De kleuren die zij gebruiken zijn nogal roodachtig en ik heb ze omgezet in, natuurlijk, hoe kan het anders , roze...Het is voor het eerst dat ik mijn kleurtjes zelf bij elkaar gezocht heb, dus ik ben benieuwd.Nu hoor ik jullie denken wat is er met de Schot gebeurd.Nou dames ik ben eigenlijk niet zo in de stemming om aan hem te werken.De kleuren zijn vrij donker, en ik vind het op het ogenblik lekker om met lichte kleuren te werken.Dus zit hij in de WIP doos en eens op een dag zal ik hem afmaken.

Vandaag kwam er een pakje uit Frankrijk met een prachtig boek geschreven door Isabelle Mazabraud van Reflets de Soie. Het beschrijft  vijf Engelse merklappen en de patronen staan er ook in.Voorin heeft Isabelle een paar persoonlijke woordjes geschreven, kortom een mooie aanwinst...

A finish and a confession

The Eiffel Quaker

In my last post I was talking about the French mood fading away, but while finishing The Eiffel Quaker, I noticed it wasn't fading away at all.In fact it's still there stronger then ever.

Working on The Eiffel was such a pleasant thing to do, it brought back all the lovely memories about the show in Paris in February, all the nice people we met and the beautiful cottage we stayed in.

I'm so  looking forward to our holiday in Normandy next October , where we rented another beautiful house of Malcolm .  I have to admit and confess I think I've fallen in love with France....
Who can resist  Camembert, Calvados, Mont St.Michel, Bayeux's Tapestry... I simply adore the French stitching books, the French charts and most of all the weblogs of my French friends, they use the colours I like, pink, white and all soft colours and the things they make are so gorgeous....Is it possible that a girl can love two countries...
 I will always love my Bonnie Scotland  as in Scotland are loads of dear and warm memories and it's a beautiful country but it has to compete with La Douce France ........

Malcolm's House 

In mijn laatste post vertelde ik jullie dat mijn Franse stemming langzaam aan het verdwijnen was,maar terwijl ik de laatste steekjes aan mijn Eiffel Quaker zette, kwam ik erachter dat het er nog steeds was, en zelfs terker dan ooit.Ik heb met zoveel plezier aan The Eiffel gewerkt, het bracht zoveel leuke herinneringen terug, aan de show in Parijs afgelopen februari,  al de leuke mensen die we daar hebben ontmoet, en het schattige huisje waar we zo warm ontvangen zijn en zoveel plezier hadden.

Normandy Collage

Ik kijk er erg naar uit om in oktober op vakantie naar Normandië te gaan, waar we dus alweer een prachtig huis hebben gehuurd  van Malcolm.Ik moet toegeven en bekennen; ik denk dat ik verliefd aan het worden ben op Frankrijk.....
Wie kan nou camembert,calvados,Mont St.Michel en het wandtapijt van Bayeux weerstaan.....
Ik ben weg van de Franse handwerkboeken, de franse patronen, en al helemaal van de weblogs van mijn Franse vriendinnen die zo heel vaak "mijn" kleuren gebruiken, roze,wit en alle andere zachte kleurtjes.De dingen die zij borduren en maken zijn vaak zo lief ...
Is het mogelijk dat een meisje van twee landen kan houden?? Ik zal altijd van Bonnie Schotland blijven houden want daar liggen heel veel mooie en dierbare herinneringen en het is er prachtig maar het zal met La Douce France moeten gaan concurreren....

The start of a Scotsman and an almost finished Quaker

My French mood is slowly fading away and my Scottish one is swiftly coming back.So I started my Scotsman today.It's a chart Pauline gave  me for my birthday, the photo isn't that good but she had to take it from a magazine.I decided to call him S, don't ask me why coz I won't tell you hahaha....

I tried to do some research about his Tartan ( the colours of his kilt, that's his skirt, sorry for the insult my Scottish friends....) and I think the colours look pretty much the same as the colours of the Stewart Black....

Correct if I'm wrong and when it all turns out different.....

I had told myself ( and Bertie...) not to start it before I finished the Quaker Eiffel and I asure you that was my plan untill three hours ago....I had to start a new skein of threads and I thought I had the correct colour, at least it was the same number, but it appeared to be a different shade. So I have to go to the shop tomorrow to buy a new one and I hope to finish it next week...

Mijn Franse bui is langzaam aan het wegebben en mijn Schotse stemming komt heel snel terug.Dus ben ik vandaag aan mijn Schot begonnen.Het is een patroon dat ik van Pauline voor mijn verjaardag heb gekregen.De foto is niet zo goed maar ze moest hem vanuit een tijdschrift fotograferen.Ik heb besloten om hem S te noemen, vraag me niet waarom want dat ga ik je niet vertellen hahaha.

Ik heb een beetje gezocht naar de kleuren van zijn Tartan (dat zijn de kleuren van zijn kilt, zijn rokje dus, sorry voor de belediging aan mijn Schotse vrienden....) en ik vind dat de kleuren heel veel lijken op die van de Tartan Stewart Black. Corrigeer me als ik het verkeerd heb of als het allemaal heel anders blijkt te worden...

Ik had mezelf (en Bertie ...) beloofd nog niet aan hem te beginnen.Ik wilde eerst de Quaker Eiffel helemaal af hebben.En aan dat plan wilde ik me ook houden....tot  drie uur geleden.Ik moest met een nieuw strengetje roze beginnen , en ik weet eigenlijk wel zeker dat ik de goede kleur had, maar toch bleek het een tint lichter te zijn.Dus moet ik morgen naar de handwerkwinkel om de goede kleur te halen, en hoop ik hem aankomende week als nog af te maken..

A finish, a present,an award and an update

I finished Lisa's letter last Saturday, after I decided not to make the little heart in the corner.It would have been too much and too filled up.So after the last stitch I washed and ironed it,made a present of it and brought it to her.She was delighted  and it is proudly being showed on her cupboard.

Then last week mr Postmen brought my a nice birthday present from Lainey.A real Scottish present : a hold-all with thistles on it,a small book with Scotland photos,a lavender stitching kit and a beautiful card with the most wonderful words written in it..Thanks so much  dear Lainey..

Another thing to be proud of is the Russian Award given to me by Hélena a girl from Moscow, with a lovely blog...Thank you Helena...

An last but not least an update of The Eiffel Quaker...as my French mood is slightly fading away I'm dying to finish it.I'm starting to get in my , of course, Scottish mood again.And I found some Scottish items to stitch.Pauline gave me a great chart of a  proud Scotsman in his kilt as a birthday present which  I'd like to start ,but I'll show you all that in another post...Thanks to Pauline as too....

Zaterdag heb ik de laatste steekjes aan Lisa's letter gedaan, en daarna  heb ik besloten om  het kleine hartje in de hoek niet te maken.Het zou te vol en te veel worden, ik denk dat het het mooie van de letter af zou halen.Dus na het laatste steekje heb ik hem gewassen en gestreken, er een mooi pakje van gemaakt en hem naar Lisa gebracht.Ze was er erg blij mee en het ligt te pronken op haar kast.

Afgelopen week bracht meneer Post me een lief verjaardagspakje van mijn vriendin Lainey .Een echt Schots kadootje: een tas met de Schotse distels erop, een prachtig boekje met fotos van Schotland, een borduurtje met lavendel en een kaart met mooie ,lieve woorden.. ontzettend bedankt Lainey

Dan het volgende ding om trots op te zijn is de Russische Award die ik heb gekregen van Hélena, een blogmeisje uit Moskou , met een geweldig leuk weblog..dank je wel Helena....

En als laatste een kleine update van The Quaker Eiffel, mijn Franse stemming is langzaam aan het wegebben en mijn uiteraard Schotse bui komt weer helemaal terug.Dus ik ben hard bezig om de Eiffel af te maken zodat ik aan mijn Schotse borduurtjes kan gaan beginnen.Ik heb wat leuke dingetjes gevonden waaronder een prachtige stoere Schot in zijn kilt, een patroon  dat ik van Pauline  voor mijn verjaardag heb gekregen.Ik wil er graag aan beginnen en zal jullie er alles over vertellen en laten zien in een volgend bericht....En natuurlijk bedankt Pauline...
